SEECon 2024 Explores AI’s Impact on Language Education

Karawang, October 28, 2024 – The Singaperbangsa English Education Department hosted the 2nd SEECon 2024 on October 24, focusing on "AI and Language Dynamics: Exploring Evolutionary Paths in Teaching and Linguistic Studies." Held both in-person at Fave Hotel, Karawang, and online via Zoom, the event explored AI's influence on linguistics and language education, offering insights for educators, researchers, and students on adapting to digital-era challenges.


The conference was opened by Mr. Fauzi Miftakh, Vice Dean for Student Affairs, representing the Rector of Universitas Singaperbangsa Karawang. The event featured keynote speakers: Prof. Anita Triastuti (Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta), Dr. Finita Dewi (Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia), and Gede Primahadi Wijaya Rajeg (University of Oxford and Universitas Udayana), discussing AI’s role in language research, teaching, and linguistic studies. Local experts, Dr. Fikri Asih Wigati and Dr. Sumarta from Universitas Singaperbangsa Karawang, presented on AI applications in English for Specific Purpose Learning and teacher knowledge reform.

Following the seminars, 28 presenters from various universities, including Universitas Singaperbangsa Karawang, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta, and others, led parallel sessions in-person and online.


The event was well-received, with participants praising the relevance of discussions on AI in language education and its potential to prepare the academic community for the future of digital learning.
