Karawang, September 2025. The English Education Study Program of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), Universitas Singaperbangsa Karawang (UNSIKA), held a collaborative teaching activity titled “Praktisi Mengajar” during the odd semester of the 2025/2026 academic year. The program aimed to strengthen the connection between academic learning and professional practice by involving practitioners from the field of English education.
This initiative featured collaboration between UNSIKA lecturers and practitioners from Primary English Language Teachers of Indonesia (PELTIN), Read-aloud Karawang (RAKA), and Al-Irsyad Satya Islamic School. Through this collaboration, students had the opportunity to gain direct insights from professionals with real-world experience in English teaching and literacy.
The sessions were integrated into several courses, including Curriculum and Instruction, Material Development of Teaching English to Young Learners, and English for Specific Purposes (ESP): Business English). Each session was conducted either online or on-campus, with practitioners leading discussions on topics such as Cambridge Curriculum, TKT Cambridge, Business Communication, Marketing English, and literacy-based material development.
The practitioners involved were:
-
Deden Rahmat Hidayat from Al-Irsyad Satya Islamic School, for the course Curriculum and Instruction (Semester 3).
-
Agus Syahiddin from PELTIN, for the course English for Specific Purposes (ESP): Business English) (Semester 5).
-
Read-aloud Karawang (RAKA) community, for the course Material Development of Teaching English to Young Learners (Semester 5).
The activity series officially began with an opening ceremony on Saturday, September 27, 2025, held online and attended by faculty leaders, lecturers, and students. Subsequent sessions took place both virtually and in the FKIP auditorium throughout early October.
Through this initiative, the English Education Study Program FKIP UNSIKA reaffirms its commitment to providing students with transformative learning experiences that bridge theory and practice, preparing future English educators to be competent, adaptive, and competitive in the professional world.
